Art Day Away
February 22 & March 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
(before and after care available)
Explore a variety of materials and interesting art activities in these fun, single-day camps held on public schools’ professional development days. Painting, drawing, printing and more are explored throughout this day-long event. Student art is ready to take home at the end of the day. Snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon; campers must bring their own lunch. Before & after care available from 8:30–9:00 a.m. and 4:00–5:00 p.m.

Spring Break Camp
March 18–22
Students explore a sampling of art materials and techniques while creating fun and exciting projects to take home. Snacks provided in the morning and afternoon. Students must bring a sack lunch. Before & after care available from 8:30–9:00 a.m. and 4:00–5:00 p.m.

Anime Drawing Workshop
Saturdays, March 9, 16 & 30
Capture the emotion and drama of Anime! Explore the distinct proportions and themes of this versatile genre. Students receive a sketchbook to take home at the end of each session to practice drawings.
Times: (Ages 13–16) Noon–1:45 p.m. (Ages 9–12) 2:00–3:45 p.m.

Doll Fashion Workshop (ages 9+)
Saturdays, April 6, 13 & 27
Practice your sewing skills while you design clothing for your favorite doll. Materials and sewing machines provided; just bring your creativity and your doll!

Art Detectives (ages K–6) 2 Day Workshop—June 20 & 21
Help! Someone has stolen all of our artwork! Complete puzzles, match artists to their artworks and more while you use your best detecting skills to reclaim stolen artwork. Back by popular demand!
Time: 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Fee: $70 ($63)

From Model to Main Street: Youth Imaginations Shaping Community 1-Day Workshop
Sunday, April 28 from 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. This workshop brings together area middle school students to create a collaborative sculpture for the corner of 4th and Main St. in downtown Cedar Falls. Students will work together to create small scale models of sculptures that represent their community. Professional artists, UNI art faculty and students, and Hearst staff will be on hand to guide students as they explore their ideas and learn about the art making process as well as how public art comes to be. Students will present their maquettes to community members where one will be selected to be
fabricated in stainless steel and installed in downtown Cedar Falls. Participation is free but registration is required.

Girls Scouts / Boy Scouts Workshop
Hearst Center instructors are often available to assist Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in meeting art badge requirements with themed workshops. Although badges are not sold or distributed by the Hearst Center, troops can meet the requirements for their badges during a fun and creative afternoon for just $8 per Scout. The minimum requirement of Scouts per workshop is 8 and the maximum is 25 Scouts. Troops may combine to reach the minimum requirement. Animal Safari Outer Space

Parties are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Themes and art activities are designed for children ages 3 - 12. Cost is $140 for up to 15 participating guests; additional guests may be added at $8 each up to 25. At least one supervising adult for every 8 party guests is required. To set up a private birthday party package and/or for more information contact the Hearst Center at 319.273.8641.

Face Painting and Outreach Activities Hearst Center instructors are available to do face painting
and art activities for community and corporate events. Call for more information. Prices vary and
are dependent on types of activities and number of participants.

Field Trips and Tours
The Hearst Center welcomes educational field trips and tours! Trips and tours can be customized
to include art activities, time in the galleries, and time in the sculpture garden (weather permitting).
