INDEPENDENT STUDY CERAMICS STUDIO PASSES
Independent study includes access to clay studio, firing, and use of glazes. Clay must be purchased
(in addition to the pass) from the Hearst Center at $25/25lbs. Open
studio time is available when the studio is not being used for scheduled classes. Stop by the front
desk for a handout

SUMMER 2017 CLASSES

WATERCOLOR PAINTING
This colorful class is ideal for the beginner or intermediate student who wishes to gain a strong understanding of the watercolor painting process. Students can expect to learn about suitable painting materials, basic watercolor painting techniques, the fascinating relationships between colors, and more. Supply lists are available for students at the front desk before the first day of class.
Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 13–29
Time: 4–6 pm
Location: McElroy Classroom

CLAY YOUR WAY
This introductory-level class explores the fundamentals of hand-building and throwing on the pottery wheel. Demonstrations of various making and finishing techniques help students accomplish their creative ideas. Students may feel free to bring ideas and sketches to class and the use of open studio time outside of class is encouraged.

PAINT YOUR WAY
Students of various skill levels grow in their understanding of basic acrylic painting techniques by working on projects of their choice under the direction of an experienced instructor. Instructors provide individualized guidance for each student’s particular interest in a casual and supportive studio atmosphere. A list of suggested supplies is available at the front desk prior to the first day of class.

WHEEL THROWING I
Develop and hone your basic skills of throwing pottery on the wheel to create personal items for daily use. Students can finish the class with cups, mugs, bowls, plates, and serving dishes. Demonstrations and discussions on form and functionality will take place throughout the class. Once the ware is finished with glaze it is suitable for use in the microwave, oven, and dishwasher.

STILL LIFE AND LANDSCAPE ACRYLIC PAINTING
Students will learn and practice acrylic painting techniques used for still life and landscape painting.
All ability levels welcome!
